Aromatherapy for the Mind

Aromatherapy oils can help with the mind, mood and emotion. We all need help sometime throughout our busy hectic lives to re-balance our mind and take stock of ourselves. Essential oils can be inhaled from a tissue, burned gently in an oil burner, sprayed in a room, used in massage or added to our bath or shower - its so very easy  and natural to use them.
Please note Cinnamon, basil & clove should never be used in a bath or shower.

Concentration :

There is a lot to be said about concentration, it helps to get jobs done more efficiently and decissions made more easily and lives can depend on it. We all have different demands on our concentration e.g a mum trying to cook a meal with children running around her, teenagers doing homework with music on full blast, surgeons standing for many hours in a complicated operation, the list goes on. Essential oils can help make life much easier and certain oils have the ability to enhance the power of concentration.

Oils to use : Lemon, Basil, Bergamot, Cardamon, Orange, Cedarwood, Rosemary, Eucalyptus and Peppermint.

Confidence :

Self-confidence makes us sure of ourselves within our life and helps us to make the best of what life has to offer. Confident people have an air about them which we all notice and helps them to live life to the full. We need confidence to get the job we want, the partner we want to perhaps buy clothes that others would never dare buy. Essential oils can help boost confidence by relieving the fear, stress and nervous tension that often prevents us from doing things.

Oils to use : Cedarwood, Cypress, Cardamon, Ginger, Fennel, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Jasimine, Pine, Rosemary, Orange & Coriander.

Contentment :

When you talk to people the one thing that seems to stand out miles ahead of most things is the lack of contentment. We are always striving to find this and sadly for a lot of people they never do find this as they believe contentment comes from buying objects like a new car, clothes, shoes, holidays, a bigger house or a better job - 'the grass is always greener' comes to mind. However, contentment comes from within ourselves and our ability to be happy with our life or the achievement we have made no matter how big or how small. Most of us can not feel contented the whole day long but we do have to get some sort of balance and for some its best to start with something small like finishing the ironing, cleaning the car, listening to music and building from that. Sadly we live in a world that seems geared to making us discontented with our lot.

Essential oils can not make you content but can certainly help along the way, It can help with the tension that discontented people have and with stress and unhappiness they feel and can help them think more clearly.

Oils to use : Rose Otto, Cypress, Lavender, Neroli, Bergamot, Orange, Sandlewood, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Chamomile & Clove.

Happiness :

This isn't the same as contentment but it is something we all aspire to and if you have one the other is easier to obtain. Its a very personal thing as what makes one person happy does not necessarily make another person happy. It helps us to accept who we are instead of striving to be some-one we are not. Small things can make most of us happy, like watching babies smile and gurgle, baby animals playing, a lovely meal or going for a walk. Happy people have a radiance about them and life seems much easier for them.

Oils to use : Rose Otto, Jasmine, Carnation, Geranium, Cinnamon & Clove.

Positivity :

Is the glass half full or half empy - I think we have all heard of this - our view of reality is altered by our attitude  Our thoughts are a very powerful tool and quite often if we are positive about an outcome we are more likely to achieve the results we want and the life we require. It is very hard to change from being a negative person to a positive person but with determination and help it can be done quite successfully and this is an area where essential oils can play a big part. Life is about good and bad and again a healthy balance is needed - let go of the bad and hang on to the good, set easy targets for yourself and don't start anything that you know you are incapable of finishing. Never surround yourself with negative people - make positivity part of your life - remember your successes and not your failures.

Oils to use : Basil, Lemon, Grapefruit, Cedarwood, Pine, Vetiver, Patchouli, Juniper, Cypress, Cardamon, Pettigrain, Geranium, Frankinscense, Rosemary & Bay.
